JUST PUBLISHED: GROUNDBREAKING RESOURCE IN VETERINARY FORENSICS
By ASPCA
With animal cruelty prosecutions gaining attention worldwide, the ASPCA is proud to announce the publication of a groundbreaking reference book, Veterinary Forensics: Animal Cruelty Investigations, written by the ASPCA’s Dr. Melinda Merck, DVM, the nation’s premier “Animal CSI.” This resource is designed to give veterinarians, pathologists, investigators and other animal welfare professionals the knowledge they need to understand the process of animal cruelty investigations and to correctly perform the forensic investigations of animal crime victims. The book offers detailed and clear direction on crime scene investigation, forensic testing and forensic pathology findings, as well as guidance on handling evidence and conducting evaluations that will hold up in court.
“The ASPCA is proud to have Veterinary Forensics join the legion of educational resources available to veterinarians,” says the ASPCA’s Randall Lockwood, Ph.D., Senior Vice President, Anti-Cruelty Initiatives & Legislative Services. “This practical reference will, we hope, help to strengthen the investigations of animal cruelty cases across the country.” |
